Edinburgh A720 City Bypass crash leads to traffic chaos for motorists

An Edinburgh cyclist has been rushed to hospital after a road smash in the city.

The female cyclist fell off her bike on Old Dalkeith Road, close to the A720 City Bypass, and injured herself.

However, when a car stopped to check if the cyclist was okay another vehicle arrived and smashed into the back of it.

The woman was treated by ambulance staff at the scene and no more information is available about her injuries at this stage.

Police Scotland told Edinburgh Live that the drivers of the cars were uninjured.

They exchanged details and the cops say they did not need to get involved.

A spokesperson said: "Around 3.45pm on Wednesday, 15 December 2021, a female cyclist fell of her bike in Old Dalkeith Rd, Edinburgh.

"The Scottish Ambulance Service was contacted."
