Edgerrin James, Reggie Wayne vying for Hall of Fame induction

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2020 has been dwindled down to 15 finalists and among those vying for one of the five modern-era spots are Indianapolis Colts legends Edgerrin James and Reggie Wayne.

James has been on the Hall of Fame ballot six times and has made it to the finalists round four times, including this year. It seems this is finally the year James has a shot to get in after missing out on the honor for the better part of half a decade.

James is 13th on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards list. Every retired player ahead of him has been inducted into the Hall of Fame and over 20 players behind him on that list have also made it in.

While James has been on the ballot for many years it seems, Wayne finds himself in the finalist round during the first year of his Hall of Fame candidacy.

It is rare for a player to be inducted on his first ballot, let alone a wide receiver. But it bodes well for Wayne’s future that he’s already made it to the finalists round.

Wayne is the franchise leader in career games played for the Colts. He’s second to Marvin Harrison in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in franchise history.

Wayne is also 10th in NFL history in career receptions and receiving yards.

The five inductees for the Hall of Fame will be revealed during the NFL Honors show at 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX.
