Eden Hazard 'was 7kg overweight' when he arrived at Real Madrid

Eden Hazard secured his dream move to Real Madrid from Chelsea in a deal worth £130 million earlier this summer - but it hasn't quite been the dream start.

After completing his switch to the Spanish capital, Hazard began training with his new team mates and has featured in three pre-season matches so far.

He was part of the side which suffered that 7-3 humilation against rivals Atletico Madrid but was unable to work his magic on a difficult night for Zinedine Zidane 's men.

Supporters have claimed that Hazard has gained weight and GiveMeSport have echoed this with reports that the 28-year-old was '7kg overweight' on his arrival.

Madrid have splashed the cash this summer with Hazard undoubtedly one of the stand out recruits; the Spanish giants managed to lure him away from Chelsea after seven years in West London.

Labelled as one of the world's best, Hazard's name has been linked with the coveted Ballon d'Or prize with some arguing that a move to Madrid would put him in the best position to achieve this goal.

Hazard's former Blues team mate, Samuel Eto'o , believes this is well within his reach and has tipped the Belgian to land the prize in the near future.

He said: "Hazard has to win the Ballon d'Or, he hasn't been valued enough but now he's at one of the best teams in the world. All eyes will be on him. He's close to Messi 's level and I hope that he plays Barcelona when he's at 100 percent."

Los Blancos are due to face Tottenham Hotspur at the Audi Cup in Munich tomorrow evening and will be looking for a response after their defeat to Atletico.

The Spanish giants have hit the headlines with Gareth Bale 's proposed move to China falling through, plunging his future into deeper uncertainty.

Madrid kick-off their La Liga campaign with a trip to Celta Vigo on 17th August where they will need Hazard to be ready and raring to take the division by storm.
