Eddie Nketiah warned over Arsenal future amid Leeds United loan spell

Former England and Tottenham striker Darren Bent has admitted he is worried about Eddie Nketiah’s lack of game time at Leeds United.

Nketiah moved to Elland Road on a season-long loan in a high-profile deal but he's yet to start in the Championship this season.

The 20-year-old has netted twice off the bench in the league while he has also scored twice in both Carabao Cup matches he started.

However Patrick Bamford's fine form has kept him out of the starting XI with reports over the weekend suggesting that Arsenal were considering his future in January.

Bent thinks that a lack of game time with Leeds could harm his chances of breaking through at Arsenal in the future.

“He is playing well and Leeds are in a bit of a funny one at the minute. Patrick Bamford puts in such a shift for the team and that’s why he’s probably still in there,” Bent explained to Football Insider.

“Eddie Nketiah, to be fair to him, is still sticking the ball in when he’s getting the opportunities. It’s a bit of a weird one because it’s where does Eddie Nketiah go from here?

“If he continues like he is at the minute, through no fault of his own – it’s just that the team are preferring Bamford – what happens to him next season?

“He’s not going to go back to Arsenal and play, not with the firepower they’ve got there already, so they’re going to be looking for another loan.

“You’re thinking: ‘A loan, again, really?’ So this is a big season for him.”
