Newcastle United fans have already had a glimpse of Eddie Howe's "clever management" this weekend, despite his absence from St. James' Park.
Kevin Phillips told Football Insider, Howe name dropping Jonjo Shelvey and Joelinton prior to this weekend's 3-3 draw with Brentford, did not come as a surprise to former England International.
Both Shelvey and Joelinton were among Newcastle's better players against the Bees, with the latter one of the best players on the pitch.

It certainly hasn't been plain sailing for Brazilian since signing for the Magpies for a huge transfer fee.
However, there is renewed hope that Howe will be the man to get the best out of the 25-year-old.
“It did not surprise me to hear Howe come out and say that," Phillips said. “It is clever management because it would have been a huge confidence boost for the two players.
“They have not performed to the best of their ability over the past 18 months. Joelinton has certainly been disappointing.
“On his day, Shelvey can ping the ball about and create opportunities but he lets the side down every now and again. He can do something daft.
“It does not surprise me that Howe came out and said that. He said that are a big part of his plans and after yesterday you think they will be.
“When a new manager comes in everyone ups their game. We have seem glimpses from Joelinton. He needs to start showing it every week.”
