Eddie Howe gets Celtic backing as Sir Alex Ferguson namechecks incoming boss with high praise

The delay to Eddie Howe being appointed Celtic manager is frustrating some supporters ahead of the new season.

They want him in right away to get to work and try and overcome Rangers next season to reclaim the Premiership trophy.

But if Sir Alex Ferguson is to be listened to, then Howe will be worth the wait. The Manchester United legend namechecked the former Bournemouth boss when being quizzed on the best young managers around.

Howe has been out of work since leaving the south coast side when they were relegated from the English Premier League last season.

They could go straight back up through the playoffs but Ferguson has rubbished the idea that the relegation proves Howe isn't at the level people thought.

And that means he could be a big success at Celtic Park if and when he is finally appointed as Neil Lennon's replacement.

Speaking to Sports Bible: "On young managers, Eddie Howe had a great period at Bournemouth, for a young manager.

"I think he did very well even though he's relegated it doesn't mean to say he's not a good manager, I think he is a good manager."
