Eddie Hall shows off Thor Bjornsson tattoo in attempt to secure boxing rematch

Eddie Hall has had strongman rival Thor Bjornsson's name tattooed on to his foot in a bid to secure a rematch.

The British star was defeated by his bitter foe in Dubai last month, after succumbing to a decision despite landing an early knockdown in the contest. The pair were involved in a heated build-up which involved the agreement of a wager in which the eventual loser would have a tattoo inked on their body.

Hall has now shown off his new ink after having "World's Strongest Man, Hafthor Julius Bjornsson" tattooed on the side of his foot. "Could you have had a longer name Thor? I can see the funny side of this, it is what it is and this means that down the line the rematch will happen if it is there," he said.

"I am a man of my word and I have done something that I said I was going to do and I am looking forward to what is next. But at least this is not as embarrassing as being a sore loser, I can take this as a man and that's how I see it with this and stay positive."

The pair's dispute originated from an incident during the World's Strongest Man contest in 2017 where Bjornsson felt he was cheated out of victory by his long-term rival. Hall will also be required to fulfil his part of a £200,000 wager which will see Bjornsson donate the money to charity despite the Briton's initial plan to upgrade it to £1million during the heated fight build-up.

But even though Hall has the tattoo, a rematch unlikely to take place in the near future. Bjornsson is more likely to fight a new opponent in the interim period with a Hall's rival Martyn Ford mooted after Ford's clash with Iranian Hulk was cancelled.

Bjornsson has admitted he could be willing to make Hall wait for two years for any revenge mission. "If you really want that rematch then I am willing to give you it but I am not signing that contract," Bjornsson said recently. "You get the tattoo then we can discuss any rematch. I want to obviously fight more. Is Eddie the next fight? I don't think so. I think the right way to do this is for Eddie to have some fights and for me to have some fights. If we both win our fights we can build some more hype for a future fight.

"I would love that maybe in a year or two years me and Eddie can fight again. But fighting right now again I don't think is the right choice, I think fighting in a year or two is something that can be more exciting."
