Eddie Hall reveals how close he came to being knocked out in sparring

Eddie Hall has revealed that he came close to being knocked out during a sparring session with Rob 'Big Red' Lamont.

The British star has been preparing for his boxing debut against Thor Bjornsson that will take place on March 19 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.

He has kept details of his preparations relatively low key ahead of the clash as he continues to ramp up his plans to secure the bragging rights over his Icelandic rival.

Hall has now confirmed that he was "rocked" by his sparring partner Lamont but is confident in his boxing ability after faring well against other amateur and professional fighters.

"I've got Big Red (Lamont) here and we have two sparring sessions scheduled," Hall said on his YouTube video. "Coach wants some light sparring but Big Red is such a heavy handed ba*****.

"There is no such thing as light sparring with him. I must say though of all the boxers I have fought which includes professional and amateur fighters he is the only one that has rocked me.

"He is the only where he has hit me and I have gone 'wow give me a second' because I was that close to being knocked out. He gave me concussion and one of my eyes went smaller than the other.

"He is an EBF heavyweight champion, he is no mug. A big bloke six feet 8 and he is a big dude, so hopefully we can get them sessions out of the way without breaking each others noses or jaws or whatever else."

Hall has been getting into incredible physical condition for the clash and has made a remarkable body transformation by losing 40kg.

His opponent may have the upper hand having appeared in the ring three times ahead of the bout, most recently defeating arm wrestler Devon Larratt.

The British star has faced injury struggles after being forced to withdraw from the initial date due to suffering a nasty detached bicep.

Since the injury Hall also explained how his sparring partner Lamont caused him severe damage during a session before flying out to Dubai.

"I've got 'Big Red' here [in Dubai for the end of his camp]," he told his followers in a video blog released to YouTube today. "He's going to be my main sparring partner whilst we're here.

"I think I'll do a couple of sparring sessions but try to keep the power down because Big Red hit me that hard the other week he actually shut one of my eyes down.

"One pupil went tiny and the other one stayed the same, he gave me a concussion basically, so I had a bad head for about three days. It was a good fun!"

Hall has also been struggling with a chest infection in the build-up to the clash but is expected to be fit and ready in time for the 'heaviest match in boxing history'.
