Ed Sheeran's marriage to teen crush Cherry Seaborn as couple welcome second daughter

Ed Sheeran has announced that he’s welcomed his second daughter into the world with wife Cherry Seaborn.

The chart-topping singer announced the new arrival to his fans on Instagram, sharing a picture of some tiny baby socks.

He captioned the post: "Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4 x."

The couple welcomed their first daughter, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, in September 2020.

Ed Sheeran ’s relationship with his wife Cherry Seaborn has intrigued fans for years, as they are a notoriously private couple.

But they have shared some details of their adorable love story over the years.

Unlike world-renowned singer Ed Sheeran, Cherry is not someone who is used to the attention that comes with fame.

Cherry is a financial advisor and is quite a private person, with no public social media accounts.

She grew up in Suffolk, England and graduated from Durham University before moving to the US to pursue her master's degree.

During her time studying, Cherry was also an avid field hockey player. While at Durham she led her squad to the British University championship in 2012 and 2013.

She began studying at Duke University in North Carolina in 2013, and after receiving her master’s degree she then moved to New York to work on Wall Street.

Seaborn worked for the accounting firm Deloitte and in 2016 she returned to the UK to work in their London office.

How did Ed and Cherry meet?

Ed and Cherry met when they were just kids, meeting at Thomas Mills High in Suffolk and growing up together.

However, they didn’t connect romantically until years later, although Ed has admitted that Cherry was his high school crush.

It wasn’t until 2015 that the pair reconnected while they were both in New York.

Ed told Us Weekly: “When we came to New York, where she was living at the time, we hung out and reconnected though, she’s great”.

The pair began dating and have had an adorable romance since, with Ed even writing the song Perfect for Cherry in 2017.

When did Ed Sheeran marry Cherry Seaborn?

In 2018 Ed confirmed that he and Cherry were engaged, posting a sweet picture of them together on Instagram.

He captioned it: “Got myself a fiancée just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”

In February 2019 Ed and Cherry married in a secret ceremony during the Christmas period.

“Ed got married a few days before Christmas. It was very quiet – just Ed’s oldest school pals, limited family and the priest," said a source.

“There were only 40 people – so no Taylor Swift, record company executives or any royals or pop star pals. He wanted no fuss and he wanted it to be something entirely for them – just a tiny winter wedding.

“It’s amazing that he’s the biggest pop star in the world but he was just able to quietly slide off and wed.

“Neither of them were that fussed about making a big deal about it. Cherry just wanted to get it out of the way without any problems or intrusions.”

Later that year, Ed confirmed their marriage after the release of his new album, No.6 Collaborations Project, which saw him refer to Cherry as his wife in one of the songs.
