Owning a robot vacuum has always been a life goal of mine. That seems silly and superficial, I know. But I’m a time poor gal, and my mum always goes on about how she’s basically in love with her robo vac. And my is about to become a reality because ECOVACS has dropped a brand new robotic vacuum and it’s $1000 off right now: the ECOVACS DEEBOT N50 Omni Robotic Vacuum.
This robot vacuum ($1,199, usually $2,199) is the brand’s latest release. It’s supposed to be an all-rounder, with the ability to vacuum and mop. When it finishes mopping the tiles and transitions over to carpet, it detects the change in flooring and automatically lifts the mop head by nine millimetres to prevent getting the carpet wet.
Sounds like sorcery, but it’s not.

The ECOVACS DEEBOT N50 Omni Robot Vacuum has what the brand calls ZeroTangle 3.0 technology. With an ARClean Anti-Tangle Side Brush and a Roller Brush with a triple-V structure, the brand says this robot vacuum has a zero per cent rate of hair getting caught up in the brushes, including long ass human hair.
IDK about you, but I’d love to not have to cut my hair out of my vacuum cleaner’s head with scissors every couple months.
The mop aspect of the ECOVACS DEEBOT N50 contains TruEdge 2.0 technology, which is supposed to help the mop better reach corners. If you’ve ever tried to mop your kitchen and realised half the grime in your place lives in those hard-to-reach corners, you’ll know how big of a deal that is.
It also washes the mop heads with hot water when it docks, so you’re not just pushing yesterday’s dirt around. Basically, it’s doing a deeper clean than I ever manage when I drag out the old bucket and mop.

Speaking of its dock, that’s a hard worker, too. The OMNI Station auto-empties the robot vacuum for up to 90 days, has 75°C hot water mop washing, 45°C hot air drying, automatic cleaning solution dispensing, and self-cleaning with dual scrapers.
One factor to consider is if you live in a double storey house, it can’t climb up or down the stairs. Its wheels enable it to navigate uneven floors of up to 20mm. This prevents it from getting stuck when transitioning from tiles to carpet, but doesn’t accommodate for anything bigger than that TBH, so you’d have to carry it up and down the stairs. However, its mapping abilities mean it won’t topple down once it’s on the second floor.
I mean, if it’s gonna do all the hard work for me, I’m happy to spare 15 seconds to carry it up the stairs.
The ECOVACS DEEBOT N50 Omni Robot Vacuum is available to purchase exclusively at JB Hi-Fi. While it retails for $2,199, it’s on sale for $1,199 for the next two weeks until September 10.
