EasyJet issue warning for Brits travelling to Spanish islands due to rule changes

EasyJet have issued a warning for Brits planning any trips abroad to a number of certain Spanish islands this year.

Brits annually flock to islands such as Ibiza and Mallorca to catch some rays and have earned an infamous reputation as tourists abroad.

And after a few years where Covid prevented those who could afford to, jet-setting off abroad, now restrictions are being eased, many are keen to escape these shores once more, Liverpool Echo reports.

However, those travelling to these islands have been issued a warning by EasyJet.

Anyone attempting to book an All Inclusive stay in these destinations via the budget airline is given the following message: "Due to a change in Spanish law which affects certain resorts in the Balearic islands, alcoholic drinks are now limited to three per person at lunch and dinner as part of the all inclusive basis."

Basicallly, Brits who book these package holidays at specific resorts on certain islands are slapped with a six-drink limit a day.

For many Brits abroad, where drinking themselves hopelessly drunk is common, this could be a problem.

The law came in during 2020, to limit extreme drunken behaviour that affects residents.

The Balearic government has also banned happy hours, pub crawls and two-for-one drink offers.

Alcohol cannot be sold in shops between 9.30pm and 8am, and advertising party boats in certain areas is also forbidden.

Only certain areas of the islands are affected by the laws so it is worth checking before you book.

This comes after the government announced that Covid tests for travellers returning to the UK will be scrapped from 4am on February 11.

This will only apply to fully vaccinated travellers.

Unvaccinated Brits will no longer need to self isolate or do a day 8 test under the new rules.

But they will have to take pre-departure and post-arrival PCRs.

All under 18s will not have to take tests on arrival in the UK.
