EasyJet flight bound for Scottish airport declares mid-air emergency

AN easyJet flight bound for Edinburgh has had to declare a mid-air emergency after a bird strike.

The airliner's EZY3294 flight from Geneva, Switzerland, on Sunday was diverted back to the airport shortly after take-off after the plane hit a bird.

The easyJet flight left the airport at around 6pm with data from the plane showing the aircraft circiling around the vicinity of the runway before landing again 40 minutes later.

EasyJet said the bird strike led to a default on the aircraft that “could not be resolved” and that the flight was cancelled.

A notice to passengers by the airline read: “We’re sorry that your flight has been cancelled.

“This is due to a bird strike that led to an aircraft default that could not be resolved.

“We understand that this will be disappointing news and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to make new plans, so here’s everything you need to know about what to do next.”
