EastEnders' Whitney screams and is covered in blood in explosive new trailer

Whitney Dean's nightmare continues in EastEnders, according to a new trailer for episodes of the soap next week.

In it viewers see the pretty market trader completely lose it and somehow end up with blood all on her hands.

Whitney - played by Shona McGarty , 28 - has not been coping well since she handed herself into police for the murder of stalker Leo King.

And new scenes show that the pressure continues to mount as she screams out in distress, and proclaims: "Nothing's gonna change what I did!"

Whitney gave herself up last week, after the now infamous boat crash that marked the 35th year anniversary of the show.

In earlier episodes viewers saw her stab Leo in the stomach in self-defence after he attacked her in her house and the two struggled.

In a panic she called on Queen Vic landlord and former lover Mick Carter, played by Danny Dyer , who advised her to leave the body on the kitchen floor and go to the boat party to cover her tracks.

However, clearly battling with the guilt she later decided to confess.

The new clips also show lawyer Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith), who is representing Whitney tell a concerned-looking Kat: "If Kush changes his plea, it gives me a fighting chance of stopping Whit going to prison for murder", and viewers will be keen to see whether or not Kat is able to convince Kush, who is facing his own legal troubles, after getting into a scuffle with Leo, which saw the stalker fall off a balcony.

Another dramatic storyline that will be show next week will involve teen Keegan Baker, who has been the victim of racial discrimination in recent episodes and things seem to come to a head when he is tackled to the ground by police, as wife Tiffany (Maisie Smith) looks on in distress screaming.

Shona has been at the forefont of some of the most gripping storylines the show has seen in a while, as bosses amp up the drama to mark the British soap's impressive milestone in style.

The actress recently spilled about her personal life, detailing how she broke up with her fiancé more than a year before the split became public knowledge.

The 28-year-old soap actress - who has played Whitney Dean on the show since 2008, featuring in over 1,000 episodes - was engaged to electrician Ryan Harris in October 2018.

Last month, the TV babe shocked fans when she announced her engagement to Ryan was over - but has stunned fans again by now explaining she split from him more than a year ago.

Opening up to The Sun on Sunday’s Fabulous magazine, Shona explained all about the break up - saying the romance ended after she and Ryan realised they had drifted apart.

“I’ve actually been single for a year and a bit. I just didn’t want to say anything. We were together for six years,” she said.

“When it ended it wasn’t a bad break-up, it was amicable. We both came to the decision that, actually, this isn’t what we really want. It fizzled out and we weren’t the same people,” she added.

Shona said she is ready to talk about the break up now, after keeping it secret for more than a year, because she is finally feeling happy with herself again.

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
