EastEnders viewers slam 'massive Tory' Kathy as Karen makes dig at Boris Johnson

EastEnders managed to slip a controversial last-minute politics scene tonight that revealed who some of the characters voted for.

Just hours after the Conservative Party gained a landslide majority - the clever clogs at EastEnders filmed a quick scene to insert into the middle of Friday's episode.

When asked if she was coming to Ian Beale's campaign launch, Karen Taylor claimed she would "rather eat a box of washing powder" than listen to more politics.

It came as no surprise that Kathy revealed Ian was pleased with the election result - but viewers were stunned that she was a strong Brexiteer.

She said: "I just think people voted for something three years ago and they want that to happen. Everyone is sick of being stuck. Going nowhere."

Karen claimed she would give Ian a sign and a mop to put on his head.

She confessed: "I haven’t even heard of half these places that have voted Tory."

Hitting back, Kathy said: "That's half the problem. Londoners forget half the country exists."

Giving his two cents, young Bobby Beale said: "I just hope the country isn’t broken by the time I get to vote."

Karen then made a cheeky dig at Boris Johnson over the fridge scandal.

As she left, Karen said: "Well I’m going to hide...in the fridge."

"Hahaha love how Karen mentioned the fridge when it come to politics," added another.

There was also a lot of controversy over Kathy's remarks about Brexit .

"Kathy Beale a Tory????? Say it ain't so," asked one viewer.

Another added: "Kathy Beale is a massive tory"

"Why are viewers shocked at Kathy defending Conservatives? She & Ian are business class," argued a third.
