EastEnders star Lacey Turner returns to set for the first time since maternity leave

Lacey Turner has returned to work on the famous EastEnders set for the first time since her maternity leave.

The soap star, 31, seemed excited to get started on filming as she arrived at the BBC studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, for the first time since becoming a mum last year.

The mum-of-one - who is known as playing Stacey Fowler in the BBC soap - seemed like she never left as she chatted to the security guard who issued her a flashy new pass for the premises.

It was the first time Lacey has visited the Square since welcoming daughter Dusty with husband Matt Kay exactly a year ago.

The actress has been very open with her journey to parenthood, opening up about two heartbreaking miscarriages she suffered from before her successful pregnancy.

Speaking to The Sun Online, Lacey - who first starred in the hit soap back in 2004 - said she "couldn't allow herself to be excited" following her previous heartbreak.

Lacey gave birth to a healthy baby girl called Dusty - who she shares with husband Matt Kay - in July of last year, but sadly lost two earlier babies at seven weeks.

She candidly opened up about being an expectant mum in celebration of the Fabulous' Mum of the Year competition.

"I found pregnancy quite difficult as I couldn’t allow myself to be excited because of previous experiences, so it seemed very long,” she told the publication.

"I was fascinated with my body and the changes it made and how incredible it is, but I also found the adjustments very hard at times especially towards the end."

She went on to say that motherhood has been her best experience, whilst also admitting "being a mother is by far the hardest job I have ever done in my life."

Lacey introduced daughter Dusty to co-stars shortly after her birth last year.
