EastEnders' Letitia Dean teases Sharon and Keanu's future ahead of wedding death

EastEnders ' Sharon Watts actress Letitia Dean has teased the future of her character's romance with Keanu Taylor, ahead of huge scenes later this year.

The pair recently gave things another go after quite the history, while the pair share a son together, Albie.

Longtime viewers of the BBC soap will know the pair had an affair back in 2019 and Sharon fell pregnant. Sharon's then husband Phil Mitchell wanted Keanu dead, and he and son Ben Mitchell plotted his demise.

Keanu's partner at the time Louise Mitchell, Phil's daughter, was also pregnant with his child.

It seemed Keanu was killed off on Christmas Day that year, only for the New Year special to confirm he was still alive - with him then making a brief return in February 2020.

Last year Keanu came back and despite initially being warned off by Phil, he was allowed to stay and see his son Albie.

Sharon and Keanu have been on and off ever since, but recently he proposed to her. Viewers know that Sharon is possibly getting married this Christmas thanks to a flashforward clip, but it's not confirmed the groom is Keanu despite their romance.

In the clip Sharon is in a wedding dress and the pub is decorated for a wedding, while there are five other female characters and a unidentified dead male character also in the scene.

Now, actress Letitia has teased what the future holds for the pair as fans await to find out who she will marry.

She said: "I’d like to think they can find a way forward after all of this. This isn’t the first stumbling block in their relationship, and I’m sure it won’t be the last!

"Sharon has just been faced with the possibility of losing Keanu so whatever anger she had towards him for the arrest has quickly turned into concern for his safety. They have a son together, and they really do love each other so I hope that will prevail."

On how the romance is going in Sharon's eyes, she added: "Keanu has really proved himself to Sharon since they got back together and the relationship is going from strength to strength, so when Keanu suggests they christen Albie and he insists he pays for it, even though she doesn’t need him to, it just reinforces to Sharon that he really wants to support their family."

Perhaps there's hints that Keanu is not the dead body in the Christmas scenes, given Sharon's reaction to him laying unconscious on the ground in scenes ahead.

Letitia said: "She’s distraught. Sharon has lost so many people in her life so all of those emotions come flooding back. The possibility that her happiness might be ripped away again is crushing and she absolutely breaks at the sight of an unconscious Keanu."

Other comments could tease that she is the killer this Christmas, as actress Letitia said Sharon would do whatever it take to protect her loved ones.

She said: "I’m sure Sharon has many regrets in her life, but this isn’t one of them! She’s fiercely protective of her family and will stop at nothing to make sure they’re safe."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
