EastEnders' Kush actor can 'finally put character to rest' now Gray's been caught

EastEnders' actor Davood Ghadami can "finally put Kush Kazemi to rest" now that his killer Gray Atkins has been caught.

The actor played the much-loved character on the BBC One soap for several years, before Kush was murdered by the evil serial killer (Toby Alexander-Smith) in harrowing scenes airing last year.

Gray killed Kush by pushing him in front of a tube train and made it look like a terrible accident. But in recent scenes, there was finally justice for Kush and all the others that Gray had murdered - Tina Carter and Chantelle Atkins - as he was caught by police.

Now actor Davood - who also stars in Holby City - admitted he can finally bid a farewell to his character.

"I'm not over Kush’s murder! With the big story arcs, EastEnders has one big story that goes on for a long time, people get dragged in, it's nice when there is a definitive end to that entire thing," he told Metro.co.uk.

"I’m pleased that we got to see the reactions of Martin, Whitney and everyone Kush was closest to, how Gray confessed everything as well. When you’re not in the show anymore, you have no control over those characters."

He added: "You do assume in a drama that characters might get forgotten about, but it’s nice that it’s been addressed and people know what happened, I feel like I can finally put Kush to rest now."

Kush was killed by Gray in sad scenes last year, and following Kush's death, Whitney (Shona McGarty) struggled to cope, all the whilst believing it was just an accident. She was horrified to finally find out that Gray had actually been the one to kill Kush.

In tragic scenes, Gray confessed what he'd done to an upset Whitney as she came face-to-face with the killer in a showdown.

Actor Toby Alexander-Smith had previously teased a huge final showdown between Whitney and Gray.

"There are going to be some really tense moments, there is a pretty big stunt involved which we both had a lot of fun filming," he explained ahead of the scenes airing, "Ultimately Whitney is fearless at this point, she has been trying to get Gray for a long time so there is massive showdown that is really exciting. It was very fun playing them battling out together."
