EastEnders fans rejoice as 'old' Phil Mitchell returns and reignites Ian Beale feud

EastEnders' Phil Mitchell was Ian Beale's stepfather at one point on the show, but the pair never got on.

In fact, Phil was often making Ian's life a misery in classic episodes of the BBC soap.

Long time viewers may remember all sorts of incidents between the pair, as Phil would bully the character.

From almost throttling him with a pipe, to pushing his head down the toilet, Phil was always after him.

Ian found himself avoiding the Mitchell brother at all times, but managed to annoy him some way or another.

They did change and get along more over the years, especially after the death of Ian's daughter Lucy.

While they have started clashing again recently over Sharon Watts, it's never been like it used to be - until now.

Things got tense between the two men during Tuesday night's episode, with a flash of the old Phil back in Walford.

It was like going back in time for some, as Phil threatened Ian once more like the old days.

Ian came to his house to collect Sharon's things, after Phil tried to make her choose between him and her baby son Kayden.

But Ian was left visibly shocked and scared when Phil began screaming at him, warning him to leave the house while accusing him of trying to get with Sharon.

Phil exploded at Ian while mocking him and even referencing their past feud, as a terrified Ian ran away.

He told Ian: "You touch one thing in this house and I will break your fingers.

"And don't think I don't know what you're after, cosying up to her. You're a vulture... you want Sharon don't you.

"You will always, always be the runt whose head I stuck down the carsey.

"You tell Sharon if she wants her stuff she can come and get it herself, you hear me?"

EastEnders airs Mondays at 8pm, and Tuesdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
