The Government is currently advising against all but essential international travel for people in the UK significantly impacting holidaymakers.
With continued border closures and other travel restrictions globally, many airlines are starting to cancel flights.
Advice from the Foreign Office (FCO) comes as the situation around coronavirus becomes increasingly unpredictable, and although Britons have not been told to immediately return to the UK, they are being warned of potential flight cancellations.
In Nottinghamshire, many holidaymakers will have planned to jet off from East Midlands Airport. As we as having flights booked,other bookings such as airport parking have already been arranged.
The news from the Government will mean a significant number of travellers will need to cancel airport parking bookings, but currently, the rules on these cancellations still stands as normal.
Where a refund is allocated for parking at East Midlands Airport, a £7.50 admin charge will be deducted from the amount.
This applies to anyone without cancellation protection taken at the time of booking.
All cancellations must also be made 24 hours prior to the start of the booking.
A spokesman for East Midlands Airport said: “Cancellations are subject to the terms and conditions of a booking which are clearly set out and available on the airport’s website.
“A £7.50 administration charge applies when parking is cancelled and is deducted from the refunded amount.
“The charge does not apply if passengers purchased the Cancellation Protection as part of their booking and cancellations are made at least 24 hours prior to the arrival date.”
