East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow MP, Dr Lisa Cameron has been shortlisted for the Patchwork Foundation MP of the Year Award.

The awards give individuals and grassroots organisations, the opportunity to nominate MPs for the hard work they do throughout the year, particularly in relation to their work with minority communities.

The Patchwork Foundation is active in promoting and highlighting best practices in the area of under-represented, disadvantaged and minority community engagement.

Nominations were made by members of the public in recognition of Dr Cameron’s disability work over the last twelve months.

The award winners are due to be announced at Speaker's House in January 2022 and Dr Cameron MP will be in attendance as a shortlisted MP.

Ms Cameron said: "I am delighted to be shortlisted for the Patchwork MP of the Year Award 2021.

"I continue to advocate for people with disabilities as Chair of the Disability All Party Group at Westminster and am so proud we have recently increased the percentage of MPs offering work experience in politics for people with disabilities from 11 per cent to 24 per cent, rolling out equal opportunity for all.

"I will continue to spearhead this fantastic programme."
