East Kilbride Guides group lend helping hand to food bank

The 17th EK Guides lent a helping hand to a local food bank.

EK Community Food Bank welcomed a group of girl guide volunteers keen to help make a difference in their local community.

Seventeen guides and five leaders offered their help to the service at their Calderwood Baptist Church base last week as part of their Community Action Badge.

Community care worker Karen Dornan, who runs the food bank, said: “We were delighted to welcome the guides to our central unit.

“They were all so enthusiastic and willing to help. They helped sort donations, pack food parcels and organise hygiene items.

“They did an amazing job and we are very grateful for their hard work and energy.

“They were all so willing to do whatever needed done and showed a great example of what it is to serve in the community.

“Well done girls you should be really proud of yourselves.”
