East Kilbride funeral home offers to help vulnerable with shopping amid coronavirus outbreak

A funeral home near Glasgow is doing their bit to help the community amid the coronavirus outbreak by offering to do shopping and run errands for locals.

Hester and Lalli Funeral Home, located in East Kilbride has taken to social media today to offer the service to those who might need it most in the area.

A Facebook post reads: "Most people are going through a really hard time just now with the Covid-19 virus. Some are stockpiling but then there are those who are struggling to get out to get the bare necessities.

"We are here to serve the community and at this time if you need any help with getting groceries or picking up medication we would be happy to help you. There is no charge for our service. We just want to extend our hand to help those that need care.

"We will do our best to accommodate your requests".

Glasgow Live reached out to Hester and Lalli Funeral Home, who said: "We’ve let the local community know what we are doing and we’ve had a great response.

"It doesn’t matter what time it is. We can go and pick up their prescriptions or help with messages.

Its just really to try and help those families and individuals who will not get that support elsewhere.

"We are in the position where we can help people. It makes things so much better".

Anyone who feels like they could benefit from the kind gesture can contact the funeral home on 01355 457161.
