East Kilbride boss takes signing spree to 17 with double swoop

East Kilbride boss Mick Kennedy has added two fresh faces to his squad - taking his summer signing spree to 17.

Former Queen's Park and Queen of the South midfielder Calvin McGrory and ex-Darvel defender Chris Truesdale - who played as a trialist in EK's 1-1 draw with Queen of the South in a friendly on Saturday - are the latest in a long line of recruits at K-Park.

The duo join goalkeepers Chris Truesdale and Lyle Avci, defenders Cameron Eadie, Mark Morrison, Ryan Lockie, Chris McGowan and Andrew McDonald, along with midfielders Callum Tapping, Andy Stirling, Nathan Flanagan, Jonny Lyon, Marc Kelly and Liam Brown, as well as winger Adam McGowan and striker Keir Samson.

But Kennedy is still intent on adding at least a couple more to that tally for the start of the Lowland League campaign next month.

After the signings were announced, he tweeted: "Delighted to bring Calvin McGrory and Craig Truesdale to the club. Two exceptionally gifted young players, hopefully another couple of players in this week, then we are good to go for the season ahead."

McGrory and Truesdale will go into the squad for Saturday's friendly at home to West of Scotland League side St Cadoc's.

And on his latest captures, who are both 23-years-old, Kennedy said: "Bringing Calvin to the club is something we've been working on for the last few weeks. We see him as a massive part of the club's future. His experience for such a young age will be invaluable.

"Obviously I've known Craig from my time at Darvel and, as soon as I joined East Kilbride, I was determined to bring him to the club. He had such a fantastic year last season and I think he'll be a big part of what we are trying to do here."
