East Belfast FC hit back at accusations after fiery Amateur League clash with Immaculata

East Belfast Football Club have hit back at allegations surrounding their Amateur League Division Three reserve game against Immaculata II at the weekend.

Saturday’s match at East Park was decided by a late winner for the East Belfast II side and that sparked a number of flashpoints.

West Belfast club Immaculata took to social media on Monday to share their anger and state that they have reported the alleged incidents to the ‘Chairman of the Northern Amateur Football League as well as the relevant authorities’.

“Immaculata FC would like to record its disgust at the treatment it received against East Belfast on Saturday 04.03.2023,” a statement online read.

“After East Belfast scored in the last minute... their supporters invaded the pitch to taunt our players. Then, a series of altercations had broken out," they claimed.

“This kind of treatment is disgusting and should be a thing of the past. We have reported these incidents to the Chairman of the Northern Amateur Football League as well as the relevant authorities.”

Within hours, East Belfast made a statement of their own on the matter to fully refute all allegations against their club.

A statement on their social media said: “We are aware of a number of serious allegations advanced by Immaculata FC on social media, which have come about following their defeat to East Belfast FC on Saturday.

“For the avoidance of all doubt, all the claims advanced are completely without foundation and amount to little more than the tried and tested effort to create a victim narrative.

“East Belfast FC are a club open to those from any and all religious, social, community and racial backgrounds without discrimination. We are proud of our work in this regard and these ridiculous claims, whilst being treated with the contempt they deserve, will nevertheless be robustly contested in the appropriate forum.”
