Earn Up To 80,000 Miles With The Delta Amex Credit Cards

Now through July 2nd you can earn up to 80,000 Delta SkyMiles and up to 5,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQMs) by signing up for a Delta credit card.

While Delta SkyMiles tend to have a pretty bad reputation, the airline’s increasingly frequent award sales have created some serious FOMO for anyone who doesn’t have access to a stash of Delta miles. If that sounds like you, now is the best chance to pad your Delta balance as the cobranded Delta Amex credit cards are all offering elevated welcome bonuses. Now through July 2nd you can earn up to 80,000 Delta SkyMiles and up to 5,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQMs) by signing up for a Delta credit card. Let’s take a look at the current offers:

Gold Delta Amex & Gold Delta Business Amex

The personal version of Delta’s entry level  Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express is offering an elevated welcome bonus of 60,000 miles after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months, plus a $50 statement credit after making a Delta purchase in the first 3 months. Meanwhile the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express is offering 70,000 miles after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. I value Delta SkyMiles at 1.2 cents each, making these bonuses worth $720 and $840 respectively.

The two cards are nearly identical, both carrying a $95 annual fee that’s waived for the first year and no foreign transaction fees. Cardholders will enjoy a first checked bag free on Delta flights, priority boarding, and 20% off inflight purchases on Delta. The Gold Delta Amex cards earn 2x miles on Delta purchases and 1 mile per dollar on everything else.

Platinum Delta Amex & Platinum Delta Business Amex

The middle tier of Delta credit cards, the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express and the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express are also offering elevated bonuses. On the personal version you’ll earn 75,000 bonus miles and 5,000 MQMs after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months, plus a $100 statement credit for making a Delta purchase in the first 3 months. On the business version, new applicants will earn 80,000 bonus miles and 5,000 MQMs after spending $6,000 in the first 3 months, plus a $100 statement credit after making a Delta purchase in the first 3 months.

The Platinum Delta Amex cards have a higher annual fee of $195, but more benefits to go along with it. You’ll enjoy an annual companion certificate that can be used for travel in the main cabin, just pay up to $75 in taxes and fees. You can also earn MQMs toward Delta elite status with this card. In addition to the 5,000 MQMs you’ll earn from the welcome bonus, you can earn 10,000 MQMs and 10,000 redeemable miles after you spend $25,000 on the card in a calendar year, plus another 10,000 MQMs and 10,000 redeemable miles after spending $50,000 in a calendar year.

Delta Reserve & Delta Reserve for Business

Delta’s premium credit cards, the Delta Reserve® Credit Card from American Express and Delta Reserve for Business Credit Card are also offering elevated bonuses at the moment. You can earn 75,000 SkyMiles and 5,000 MQMs after spending $5,000 in the first 3 months on the personal version, or 80,000 miles and 5,000 MQMs after spending $6,000 in the first 3 months on the business version.

The Delta Reserve has a $450 annual fee, but it also offers complimentary Delta Sky Club access when you’re flying Delta, and the ability to bring in up to two guests at a discounted rate of $29 per person. You also get an annual companion certificate, but unlike the version available to Platinum Delta Amex card holders, this one can be used for first-class travel.

Bottom Line

We see elevated offers on the Delta Amex credit cards from time to time, but these are some of the best deals in recent memory. Add in the massive number of award sales Delta has offered recently, including round-trip flights to Australia for only 44,000 miles or domestic awards for only 10,000 miles round-trip, and this can be a great deal even if you aren’t a frequent Delta flier.
