Eamonn Holmes thrills Scots as he visits Turnberry and Ayr despite chronic back pain

Eamonn Holmes thrilled Scots fans as he visited Trump Turnberry and Burns Cottage in Ayr during a surprise trip to Scotland.

The This Morning presenter decided to make the most of the Bank Holiday with a holiday of his own and he'd hinted to fans that he was planning to go to Ireland.

However Eamonn, who is a huge fan of Scotland, chose to spend the weekend with some friends and had written at the start of his visit: "Watching the Sun go down with friends in Scotland. So peaceful."

Eamonn didn't immediately reveal his whereabouts but today he posted a picture of himself smiling as he posed in front of the Trump Turnberry hotel.

Eamonn has the week off from This Morning after Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were announced as this week's holiday hosts - breaking Eamonn and Ruth's usual reign.

He said he wanted to explore the sights despite still suffering due to his chronic back pain which has left some damage to his leg nerves meaning he is currently on crutches.

He told fans: "However, determined to still get around. Been to Bonnie Scotland over the Bank Holiday. Crutches and all.."

Eamonn also visited Burns House in Ayrshire and pointed his crutch at the sign above the National poets former home.

He also showed off another picture of himself wearing an ill fitting mask which he'd described earlier as looking like a 'big nappy'.

Seeing his post Ruth Langsford said: 'We need to get you back on the golf course!"

Eamonn's unannounced trip to Scotland comes just days after Piers Morgan also flew over to the Fife and St Andrews area to explore Scotland's golf courses.

During his trip the former GMB presenter also drank two bottles of wine estimated to cost around £700, and told one fan who wanted him back on the telly swiftly that he didn't 'need a job'.
