Eamonn Holmes reveals he is 'laid up' with agonising condition that is stopping him from sleeping

Eamonn Holmes has updated fans about his health after he ended up in hospital suffering the worst pain he's 'ever experienced'.

The television presenter, who hosts This Morning with his wife Ruth Langsford, posted a video to his Twitter account in which he revealed he was 'laid up' on his sofa in a continuing struggle with chronic pain.

Eamonn, aged 61, has been battling the condition since he 'mysteriously' dislocated his pelvis, which then led to his back problems, the Manchester Evening News reports.

He had to go to hospital earlier this month, crippled with the worst pain he'd 'ever experienced'.

In the Twitter video, Eamonn said: "I’m here laid up at home on the couch with my three discs out on my back.

"I thought I was turning a corner yesterday, I thought I was getting better but I don’t feel good today.

"Today has really not been a good day. As a matter of fact, things all around aren’t good."

Ruth talked about Eamonn's excruciating plight on the ITV discussion show this week during a segment about 'pain-somnia', where pain causes an inability to sleep.

"He's having a lot of physio, two injections in his back," she said.

"It's difficult dealing with that pain when you're not sleeping. It affects whole family, affects when you are working."

Ruth later commented that her husband was getting "two or three hours' sleep if he's lucky."

At the beginning of the week Eamonn expressed optimism that his health was improving, saying "for the first time in five weeks I feel good."

He suggested that steroid injections he had recently been given "must be kicking in", adding: "The comeback starts here... I hope."
