Eamonn Holmes falls off his chair live on air just two weeks after hospital dash

Eamonn Holmes fell off his chair live on GB News on Wednesday morning, shocking his co-hosts.

The broadcaster, 65, was rushed to the hospital earlier this month after suffering a serious fall in his bathroom that left him fearing he was “dead”.

And just weeks later, the presenter had another scare as he tumbled off his chair in the middle of the early morning news programme.

While the camera was trained on commentator Charlie Rowley, a crash could be heard off-screen as Holmes’ co-host Ellie Costello exclaimed: “Oh my gosh!”

As Rowley looked stunned and went to help Holmes, the veteran host was heard saying: “I'm fine, I’m fine. Carry on, carry on.”

Rowley tried to continue but the programme cut to adverts seconds later for an extended six-minute break.

Holmes returned to the screen after the break, joking: “I’m still alive!

“They're very wonky wheels on chairs we've got here, as a matter of fact we don't really like the chairs here.”

The incident comes just weeks after Holmes fell in his bathroom, suffering the “sorest and most powerful” knock to his head.

The former This Morning host had already revealed on Instagram that he had been hospitalised following the fall, but recalled the accident later in more details on GB News.

He explained that he slipped on his wet bathroom floor, recounting: “I was very worried about me.

“[I] fell on the bathroom floor and once I was down, I couldn’t get up. It was the worst bang to my head and shoulder.”

“I went down and I said, ‘I’m dead’ I have never had a bang to the head as sore and as powerful as that before. I lay there and I thought, ‘Where’s the blood?’

“There was nothing, no blood, no split, nothing like that.”

Holmes said he was fortunate to have his phone within reach and was able to call for an ambulance.

Earlier this month, he posted a photo from inside the ambulance with the caption: “An unexpected journey this morning.

“Bit of a fall on the bathroom floor. Gosh, it hurts. Thank you ambulance crew.”

He later shared a selfie from his hospital bed, writing: “Not how I wanted to be spending The Holiday weekend …… but life’s not easy these days [sad face emoji]. Thanks to everybody who is looking after me.”

Holmes has faced a string of health issues in recent years. He underwent double hip replacement surgery in 2016 and had spinal surgery in 2022 to fix a long-standing back issue caused by a slipped disc.
