Eamonn Holmes Breaks Silence on Life and Love After Ruth Langsford Divorce

Eamonn Holmes shared his thoughts on what makes relationships work nearly a year after his split from wife Ruth Langsford. The GB News presenter opened up during a chat with co-host Ellie Costello, giving fans a rare glimpse into his personal life since the divorce.

The 65-year-old TV veteran and his Loose Women star ex called time on their 14-year marriage last year, with insiders suggesting their busy careers had pulled them in different directions. While Ruth said she’s “embracing” a single life, Eamonn was spotted with her new partner, Katie Alexander, a 42-year-old counsellor. The pair went public last year with a luxury Mediterranean cruise and several glamorous outings.

During a lighthearted exchange on their GB News show, Eamonn turned the tables on Ellie, asking about her marriage. “How important is it, for instance, when you met Gerard, did you look at him and think, what a handsome bloke he is, or did you wonder if he thinks politically, religiously, and whatever in the same way?”

Ellie admitted she first noticed her husband was “very tall and handsome,” but Eamonn pressed further. “But would his politics and his views on things have influenced you in some way?”

“Not initially, no,” Ellie replied, “but we do have the same politics. I think it makes life easier if you do. What about you? What do you think?”

Eamonn shared his relationship philosophy, saying “I think you’re right. I think any partners I’ve ever had in life, I haven’t deliberately gone looking for it, but I think they think the same as me”, according to the Mirror.

The candid chat comes as rumours swirl about Eamonn’s relationship with Katie becoming more serious. A source recently claimed Katie “wants to love and care for him, especially as he’s in such a bad way with his legs and back, and can’t walk properly without assistance.”

Eamonn has faced significant health struggles in recent years, including chronic pain from three slipped discs in his back. Despite spinal surgery in 2022, he’s spoken openly about being on “borrowed time” and recently suffered a painful fall that left him needing assistance to walk.

While he’s kept details of his new romance private, this rare insight into his views on relationships suggests shared values matter more to him than surface-level attraction. It’s a philosophy that clearly served him well during his decades-long TV partnership with Ruth, even if their marriage ultimately didn’t last.

As Eamonn adjusts to life after his high-profile split while managing ongoing health challenges, fans will no doubt be wishing him happiness, whether that’s flying solo or with his new partner by his side. One thing’s certain – after decades in the public eye, the veteran broadcaster knows exactly what he wants from a relationship these days.
