Eamonn Holmes apologises as he cancels events after catching Covid-19

Eamonn Holmes has been forced to pull out of a string of personal and professional events after catching Covid-19.

He is currently in isolation after testing positive for the virus, but says that he's thankful that he's had both of his vaccinations.

The This Morning presenter issued an apology, tweeting: "Covid finally caught me .Thankfully I'm Double jabbed. More than Half way through my isolation and coping with the symptoms and effects well. Unfortunately I'm going to be a No Show for some Professional & Personal events. Just want to let everyone know why & offer my apologies".

Hopefully Eamonn has wife Ruth Langsford there to look after him, after recently admitting he's "useless" around the house.

Eamonn, 61, admitted that his partner of 25 years does all the cooking and has gone so far as to ban him from the kitchen.

He told the Daily Star: "She is so territorial, she just bans me from the kitchen.

"It used to be I would come in and say, 'Can I help?' 'No you cannot – go away.'

"And I sort of thought that suits me. I will sit there and be waited and served on. It’s an exclusion zone. It is her domain."

Eamonn's illness comes not long after he revealed that he and Ruth will have to spend this Christmas apart.

Last year, many families were torn apart during the festive season due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions, and things aren't any better for Eamonn and Ruth this year.

Eamonn will hopefully have Ruth to cook for him while he's ill as he's "useless" (ITV)

He said: "We have this issue now, in that we’ve got a sea dividing us. We often have a dilemma of whether I go to Belfast, whether Ruth comes with me.

"But Ruth wants to be with her mum. My mother is 93 this year. It’s easier for us often to be apart."

Ruth, also 61, told Woman and Home magazine: "Being apart for Christmas has never been a problem. I wouldn’t be going to Belfast this year, because I need to be with my mum. It’s about family for me."

Ruth's mum Joan lives in a care home in Surrey, with the star speaking openly during lockdown about how difficult it was for her to be unable to visit.
