Eagles vs. Bears: Chicago to stick with Mitchell Trubisky at QB

The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-4 and hitting their stride as a defense just at the right time. The Birds will host the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon and head coach Matt Nagy has confirmed that his 3-4 team will stick with the struggling Mitchell Trubisky at quarterback.

Nagy explained why he’s not switching to backup Chase Daniel after Trubisky committed two late fourth-quarter turnovers in Sunday’s 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Yes, there is [enough time left for Mitch to improve],” Nagy said, via ESPN. “And we understand that we didn’t get the win, but we felt there was definitely an improvement. We’re going to make sure that we keep our noses to the grind, we stay positive, we stay really positive because that’s who we are.”

Trubisky maintaining the Bears starting quarterback job should be good news for an Eagles defense that’s just starting to develop some true confidence after a strong performance in Buffalo. Trubisky, the former second overall pick, is currently ranked 29th out of 31 eligible quarterbacks in QBR, 28th in passing yards per game, 34th in yards per attempt and tied for 29th in touchdown passes per Next Generation Stats.
