Eagles re-sign Darren Sproles to 1-year deal

The Philadelphia Eagles’ skill positions continue to get upgraded this offseason. This time Howie Roseman brought back one of the team’s own, re-signing Darren Sproles to a one-year deal.

Sproles suffered a torn ACL and broken arm three games into the 2017 season and missed the Eagles’ Super Bowl run. He had been planning to retire at the end of that season, but the disappointing early exit drove him to return last season. However, he suffered a hamstring injury in the season opener and did not return until Week 13.

He finished the 2018 regular season with 29 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown, along with 15 receptions for 160 yards and two scores. He also returned 10 punts for 83 yards.

Sproles leads all active players with 19,520 all-purpose yards, which ranks sixth in NFL history. With 162 more yards, he would tie former Oakland Raiders wide receiver/punt returner Tim Brown.
