Eagles’ DE Chris Long to write ‘Game of Thrones’ recaps for Sports Illustrated

Chris Long is still undecided about whether or not he’ll continue his NFL career or choose to gracefully exit and focus on many of his charitable endeavors. The talented pass rusher will scratch his itch to become a journalist, when it was announced that Long will write recaps of every episode of the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, for Sports Illustrated.

Long’s venture with Sports Illustrated was two-years in the making, after a post he wrote for them in 2017, where he admittingly was skeptical about the show at first glance.

“In my estimation, shows with dragons, sorcerers and hobbits were generally left up to people who played Magic Cards,” Long wrote at the time. “But ‘Game Of Thrones’ has proven time and time again to be the outlier. Its legacy will be that it’s one of the greatest shows in television history, and easily in the conversation with heavyweights like The Wire, Breaking Bad and The Sopranos.”

Long is one of the best follows on social media, and will likely offer a few scathing takes on what should be an epic final season on HBO.

The final season of “Game of Thrones” premieres Sunday night at 9 p.m. on HBO.
