EA Sports FC: first gameplay details emerge as new HyperMotion V upgrade revealed

The EA Sports FC reveal is just around the corner, with EA Sports disclosing some brand new information regarding its upcoming game at a recent La Liga presentation.

EA Sports FC will be the brand-new football game released by EA this year, replacing its popular FIFA franchise after the publisher and FIFA put an end to their 30-year partnership last year. With the FIFA 23 cycle coming to a close, attention now turns towards EA FC 24, and the first gameplay features of the highly-anticipated game were revealed yesterday in a presentation that saw La Liga confirm its rebrand with EA.

The Spanish first division, previously known as La Liga Santander, will now be known as La Liga EA Sports, while the second division will be called La Liga HyperMotion, named after the technology EA will use to run EA FC 24. As well as unveiling the new look La Liga, the presentation also gave watchers a first look at gameplay in EA FC 24, as well as revealing new information about the updated HyperMotion engine, HyperMotion V.

A new era – EA FC reveal begins with HyperMotion V

For a long time, all that's been revealed about EA FC was the official logo for the new game, and that we would know more about EA FC 24 in July. Well, we are now starting to find out more about the FIFA replacement, and EA marked the beginning of its new era on July 1 when it officially removed FIFA from all of its social media handles, with EA FC taking its place.

In FIFA 23, EA powered the game with HyperMotion 2.0 technology, which replaced HyperMotion 1.0 from FIFA 22. But, as revealed during a live stream on the official La Liga YouTube channel, EA FC will run HyperMotion V.

David Jackson, VP of Brand at EA Sports ,was at the La Liga launch to tell us more about EA FC – albeit very briefly – and while doing so, he revealed that HyperMotion V will consist of 80x the amount of animations as FIFA 23 while also including 590 million frames of advanced 11 vs 11 game capture.

"We are going to blur the lines between virtual and real football. We'll be integrating Hawkeye tracking with player position engagement for La Liga matches to fuel HyperMotion V. Our volumetric animation technology. The tech uses 590 million frames of advanced 11v11 capture, 80x more than FIFA 23's HyperMotion 2.0 technology.

"HyperMotion V teaches EA Sports FC's proprietary machine learning algorithm how to recreate true-to-football motion in real-time, meaning the more matches played in FC, the more real the experience becomes."

FIFA 23 was most advanced football game EA has ever released, but for EA FC 24 to have 80x the number of animations, it should be the most realistic football game we've ever seen.

As well as new information on HyperMotion V, we also got our first look at some EA FC gameplay stills which included a screenshot of a goal kick in EA FC 24, which displayed a number of possession stats on screen during a game. As well as this, we caught a glimpse of Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham's and Vinicius Junior's player faces in EA FC 24, whilst we also saw an image of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid walking out of a tunnel, most likely a screenshot of a pre-game animation.

With La Liga and EA in partnership for the EA FC 24 release, who knows? We may see an update to the EA FC 24 cover star, with Bellingham or Vinicius potentially replacing Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe.
