DWP Universal Credit payment date changes for Queen's Jubilee weekend

Benefit payments change whenever there is a bank holiday, and in 2022, we have an extra bank holiday.

While that, of course, means an extra day of work for most of us, it also means an added headache when trying to work out when that universal credit payment will be dropping in to your bank account.

Well, according to the Department for Work and Pensions, which is in charge of the benefits system, any benefit payment date that falls on a weekend or bank holiday will "usually be paid on the working day before".

The Queen's jubilee celebration is scheduled for Friday, June 3, 2022. It's getting combined with the spring bank holiday (Thursday, June 2) to make a four day weekend. That means anyone whose universal credit payment date falls between June 2 and Sunday, June 5 should actually get paid on Wednesday, June 1.

That's the same for most benefits except tax credits and child benefit.
