DWP reveals 2022 Winter Fuel Payment rates and who will get for £300 boost

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued an update regarding the £300 one-off payment that millions of pensioners across the UK will get on top of their Winter Fuel Payment at the end of the year.

The ‘Pensioner Cost of Living Payment’ will be given to over 8 million households from November to help offset the expected energy price cap rise in October.

In an announcement last week, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak stated that those who are most affected by higher energy costs would be given the most support.

Neither the Winter Fuel Payment nor the £300 Pensioner Cost of Living Payment are taxable, and they do not have an effect on eligibility for other benefits.

However, the amount you receive through the Winter Fuel Payment will depend on your individual circumstances.

The benefit is available only to those who are over the State Pension age — 66 for both men and women — between September 19 and 25.

As reported by the Daily Record, here is a roundup of the Winter Fuel Payment payment information — including the Pensioner Cost of Living Payment.
