DWP benefit payment dates to change over King's Coronation weekend - see how you will be affected

Benefit claimants are being reminded that their payment date is set to change over the King's Coronation weekend.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has sent out a reminder explaining what will happen. Due to the upcoming weekend preceding a Bank Holiday, many claimants who are due to be paid on Monday will be paid earlier.

Writing on social media, the DWP said: "If you are due to be paid on 8 May, you will be paid on 5 May. Please contact us straight away if there is a problem with your payment."

This Monday is a Bank Holiday to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. Benefits are usually paid straight into a claimant's bank, building society or credit union account. If a payment date is on a weekend or a Bank Holiday, it will usually be paid on the working day before, reports Manchester Evening News.

How often are benefits paid?

If you're not sure whether you're due to be paid on Monday, May 8, you can compare the following benefit schedules with your last payment:

  • Attendance Allowance - Every four weeks
