Dwayne Johnson has massive bull tattoo enhanced with 30 hours of 'challenging' work

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson gave fans an update over the weekend on the "pretty challenging" work that has gone into his latest ink.

Posting on his Instagram account, the actor shared a series of pictures with artist Yomico as he continues enhancing the huge bull tattoo on his right arm.

The 49-year-old movie star first began developing the impressive ink back in 2017 in order to cover up a smaller bull tattoo he had since his early days as a pro-wrestler.

Sharing the images with his 246 million followers, fans can see the Baywatch star looking on as his tattoo artist continues his work on his bulging bicep.

"Evolution of the Bull tattoo is almost complete," he captioned the first post.

"Yomico’s masterful in his skill and we’ve spent many months (almost a year thru Covid) collaborating on details and story that the tattoo will represent."

"Almost done and almost time to break out the tequila."

The gruelling work continued the next day and the WWE legend shared a further posts revealing he had undergone another five hours of needle work.

He captioned the second update: "Close to 30 hrs of tattooing (pretty challenging as my whole upper arm and shoulder wasn’t a blank canvas but rather enhancing and adding to what was already there so the level of detail, precision and specific colour for my skin takes a lot of time) with my brother @yomicoart.

"He’s a master of hyper-realistic art and a great collaborator with me as we took months to fine tune the story and information this tattoo has to tell"

The impressive inking has been decades in the making.

The Jumanji actor's arm was originally adorned with just a simple, small bull tattoo two decades ago that was part of his brand as "'the most electrifying man in sports entertainment" during his time in the wrestling ring.

However, back in 2017 the now movie star revealed a dramatic transformation to his right-bicep with a new, larger design.

Taking to Instagram, the dad-of-three shared a side-by-side of the original ink along with the new design done by artist Nikki Hurtado.

Speaking in a video, he said: "Evolution of the bull begins. I've engrained this bull in my DNA for two decades. My core. Humbly, it's also become a symbol of strength, resilience, heart, power and defiance to so many people around the world.

"I got this tattoo when I was just a kid. Now I need it to reflect me as a man."

The Fast & Furious actor then went deeper into the meaning behind his new tattoo and explained how he wanted the 3D bull to look to represent his life experiences

He wrote: "Every detail is a reflection of my own personal history.

"From the cracks and heavy damage in the bone representing life's hard lessons I've learned over the years. Just like scars and wrinkles - I'm so grateful to have 'em because they're earned."
