Dwayne Haskins loves playing alongside Adrian Peterson

Not every NFL rookie gets to play alongside a legend like Adrian Peterson.

But Washington Redskins rookie passer Dwayne Haskins is one such player getting to do just that.

And the rookie passer knows how special the chance is too, per Redskins.com’s Jacob Steinberg:

“It’s been great. I’ve been a fan of [RB Adrian Peterson] since I was a little kid and now he’s my running back, I get to hand him the ball off. It’s really surreal just to have him and some other guys on the team who’ve played and who’ve done remarkably well for their career. He’s someone you look at on offense as a leader, so I’m excited to be with him and continue the season with him and hopefully another year.”

Peterson has had yet another special season in Washington. He’s likely not going to hit the 1,000-yard mark barring something unexpected. But still, sitting on 784 yards and four scores on a 4.3 average at the age of 34 is more than most might have expected.

The veteran running back has been a key mentor for guys like Haskins and Derrius Guice all season. That the rookie passer would have high praise for AP any chance he gets make sense.

Based on the injuries to Guice, Peterson is likely to be back next season even at the age of 35. He’s clearly important to guys like Haskins, who happen to currently hold the keys to the franchise.
