Hazy pollution clouded Bangkok on Monday, with the air in Bang Phlad district recording the highest level of unhealthy fine dust.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reported PM2.5 levels above the so-called safe level in all but one district of the capital.

Bang Phlad district was hit hardest, with a reading of  91. Ratchathewi, with 46, was the only district below the accepted safe level in Thailand of 50 microgrammes per cubic metre. Most countries have a much lower safe level.

Haze blanketed Bangkok throughout the weekend.

The Meteorological Department said that with no wind expected, the pollution could improve on Tuesday, when light winds were forecast for Bangkok.
