Dunlop counts down to big gala day

Excitement is building ahead of this year’s Dunlop Gala Day.

The event officially starts with the parade from Dunlop village hall at 11am on June 1.

Before then the fancy dress competition takes place 10.30am in Dunlop Park.

Gala week is already underway and Dunlop Events Association is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a number of special events including afternoon tea, a quiz, treasure hunt and a lawn bowls competition.

The scarecrow trail opened at the weekend and will remain open until Sunday. Visitors and residents can wander round Dunlop, Burnhouse and Lugton and vote for their favourite scarecrow.

On gala day there will be the popular parade with a pipe band, vintage tractors, a dog show, kids’ races, bungee trampolines, archery, stalls, educational attractions and street food.

Entry is free and there will be a free shuttle bus from Avenue Square, Stewarton, every 30 minutes from 11am.

A special after party will also take place in Merito, Dunlop, from 7pm.
