Dungannon v Warrenpoint Town given go-ahead after Stangmore Park pitch inspection

Tuesday night’s Danske Bank Premiership fixture between Dungannon Swifts and Warrenpoint Town at Stangmore Park will go ahead as scheduled.

It was feared the 'relegation six pointer' would fall victim to Storm Barra, but the game has been given the green light after a 2.30pm pitch inspection.

Dungannon confirmed on Twitter that the game "has been given the green light to go ahead by the referee" but added: "We will monitor the weather for the rest of the day.”

Dean Shiels’ men head into the game on the back of a 2-1 win over Carrick Rangers at Loughview Leisure Arena on Saturday.

The Swifts lie 10th in the table, four points above second-bottom Portadown and six clear of Warrenpoint who are rooted to the foot of the table.

Town have taken just six points from a possible 48 so far this season, winning two and losing 14 of their 16 league fixtures.

Dungannon have won just two of their eight home games this season, beating Carrick (2-0) and Portadown (4-2) on October 22 and November 20.

Tuesday night's fixture has a 7.45pm kick-off.
