Dunelm's Stoke warehouse to be upgraded as online sales continue to rise

Logistics giant GXO Logistics Inc has signed a deal with homewares retailer Dunelm to increase the capacity of its Stoke-on-Trent warehouse.

Online sales at Dunelm have risen by more than 115 per cent in the last 12 months, leading to a surge in demand for home delivery.

Now GXO has signed an agreement with Dunelm to kit out its Sideway distribution centre with new technology which will help the retailer meet increasing demand.

As part of the deal, GXO will provide Dunelm with wireless wearable barcode scanners and train Dunelm staff to use advanced new systems.

The aim of the upgrade is to help colleagues work faster and more efficiently in the run up to the retailer's peak sales season in January.

Gavin Williams, GXO's managing director for the UK and Ireland, said: "We're very excited about the opportunity to work with Dunelm, which saw a 115 per cent surge in online sales in the last 12 months.

"We're looking forward to helping the company increase its capacity for home delivery, especially in the run-up to its peak homewares sales season in January."

Brett Morris, head of parcel home delivery at Dunelm, added: "We're delighted to be working with GXO, which has a proven ability to improve logistics with large customers around the globe.

"We looked at our outstanding growth in online sales as well as at our expectations for further growth and realised we needed to increase capacity and improve our customer proposition within home delivery operations.
