Fear is one of the three words that have largely become synonymous with the current United States President, the other two being lies and conspiracies. Donald Trump, in his attempt to help fraudster and abuser Andrew Cuomo win the upcoming New York mayoral election, has utilised all three of these tactics. He is using them again as the election date comes closer.
On October 26, Americans woke up to the visuals of ICE members dropping tear gas in select locations unprovoked on multiple social media platforms. While their efforts at ridding America of alleged “illegal aliens” weren’t anything close to moral, these acts were surprising even by ICE standards. Several people on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) discoursed about the reasons behind this.
While multiple Republican leaning people continued to sing songs of praise for their orange overlord, a few who have managed to retain their critical thinking skills were quick to highlight that the actions were an effort from Trump and his Republican allies to create the illusion of violence in America, which would give President Trump the leeway to invoke the Insurrection Act, giving him the power to control crowds during the upcoming New York mayoral election.
In short, on the event of the Insurrection Act being invoked by the President, people will remain at home in fear of being questioned or handled violently during the elections, which means there will be fewer voters who will vote for Democrat nominee Zohran Mamdani (who is leading in multiple polls) and more for Andrew Cuomo, as his voters will then be protected by Trump’s forces. One person highlighted how Trump was trying to influence voters and said:
“Dumpy trump wants to incite violence so he can initiate the insurrection act before the November election.”
Another individual also noticed a similar pattern and said:
“Terrorizing citizens, Russia style, when elections come, people will be so distraught they’ll be fearful to even vote.”
Several others echoed similar sentiments.
