Dumfries man brightens up his street with special garage door message for key workers

A Dumfries train driver brightened up his street with a message for key workers.

John Lundy spent two days painting his garage door in Riddell Avenue with words of support for people going through the coronavirus crisis.

He said: “Everyone in the street has a rainbow in their window and I just joined in. I thought I would help with the community effort.”

Neighbour Carol Fisher works at Dumfries activity and resource centre for adults with mental or physical disablities.

She said: “These things get people through.

“We have quite a few key workers on our street, along with more vulnerable people.

“We all look out for one another and I feel a true sense of community which is relied upon in everyday times, not just through these more difficult times.”
