Dumfries café enjoying n-ice earner thanks to good weather and ice cream maker

Palmerston Cafe owner Paul Tamburrini is enjoying a n-ice earner this summer thanks to the good weather ... and his own ice-cream maker.

He installed a new machine to produce his own product and it has proved a smash hit with the heat wave and overwhelming sales.

Mr Tamburrini said: “I can hardly keep up with demand. It’s been flat out.”

The popular “Palmy Cafe” in Glasgow Road has been doing a roaring trade in tubs, cones and wafers since the temperatures soared this summer.

He said: “We started making our own Italian ice cream after buying the machine and building an extension to the cafe so that it is fresh every day. Now we have got about 30 to 35 flavours.

“We are selling between 150 to 200 litres a day and it has been fantastic and this has been our busiest year ever because of the recent good weather. The most popular seller is still the traditional vanilla and raspberry ripple and mint.

“We have a new pecan toffee which is one of our specialities; salted caramel is quite popular then there is Irn-Bru Extra and strawberry sorbet.”
