The council has promised to improve roads ahead of top class cyclists coming to the region next month.
The British National Road Championships are set to take place in Dumfries and Galloway in June, with events scheduled for Dumfries, Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas.
However, with the local authority facing a roads repair backlog of more than £100 million, concern has been expressed about the condition of the routes.
Race officials are due to meet council staff this week with the state of the roads one of the items on the agenda.
A council spokesman said: “Officers from Dumfries and Galloway Council will be meeting with representatives of the British Cycling Championships this week. Matters relating to the condition of the road network will form part of the discussions. It is the intention of our council to undertake repairs to the identified routes following these discussions.”
The championships will begin with a time-trial on Thursday, June 23. It will start and finish at the Crichton in Dumfries, following a route to Caerlaverock and back.
The town hosted the final round of the Tour Series last year, with King Street being resurfaced ahead of the races.
