Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus figures for Wednesday, December 23

There have now been 1,309 coronavirus cases in Dumfries and Galloway since the pandemic began.

A further 11 cases have been confirmed in the past 24 hours.

There have now been 166 cases in December, with 86 in the past week.

An outbreak of cases in Wigtownshire has seen NHS Dumfries and Galloway temporarily suspend non-essential visits to care homes in the district.

In Scotland, there have been 1,190 cases since yesterday, taking the tally to 115,566.

1,025 people are in hospital with 56 in intensive care.

Sadly, a further 47 people have died, taking the total to 4,373.
