Dumfries and Galloway coronavirus figures for September 23 as new restrictions set to take effect

The number of people to have tested positive for coronavirus in Dumfries and Galloway now stands at 360.

An additional four people have been confirmed as having Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, taking the total for September to 47.

The daily figures show an additional 486 cases across Scotland, the highest daily increase since the start of the pandemic. The national figure now stands at 25,495.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced a number of new restrictions yesterday in a bid to stem the pandemic.

From Friday, people will no longer be allowed to meet in each others’ homes, pubs and restaurants will have to close at 10pm and different households are not allowed to share cars.

People can still meet a maximum of six people from one other household in a public indoor place or outdoors.

Everyone who can work from home is urged to do so.
