Dumbarton FC set to kick off pre-season schedule next week at East Kilbride

Dumbarton’s pre-season schedule kicks off next week, as the Sons travel to K-Park to face Lowland League East Kilbride on Tuesday (June 22).

Stevie Farrell’s new look team will make the journey to Lanarkshire just over a month after their final game of the 2020/21 campaign, as they begin a busy run of fixtures in preparation for the Premier Sports Cup kicking off on July 10.

Stevie Aitken’s ambitious East Kilbride are the first of four opponents Farrell's side will face in the run up to the big kick off. And the only side they will face away from home after the cancellation of a planned friendly with Kilbirnie Ladeside on Saturday.

The EK match sets up a run of five consecutive home games, with friendlies against Premiership Motherwell on Saturday, June 26, Championship side Morton on Tuesday, June 29 and local rivals Clydebank on Saturday, July 3.

The League Cup campaign then kicks off on Saturday, July 10 with Premiership St Mirren visiting the Rock, before League Two Stenhousemuir visit four days later.

Away trips to face Dunfermline Athletic (Saturday, July 17) and Partick Thistle (Saturday, July 20) conclude the group stage section of the cup, with the league season set to begin on Saturday July 31.

With Covid-19 restrictions across the country being loosened, Sons season ticket holders are set to be welcomed to the Morton and Clydebank games - with current rules limiting capacity at the Rock to just 300. The Motherwell game will be played behind closed doors.

A statement from the club said: "Admission to the two matches will be £5 per ticket. If you are a season ticket holder and interested in attending then please email Jacqui Sibbald at jsibbald.dfc@gmail.com to register your interest.

"On this occasion, please send emails to this address and not the club's office address.

"The deadline to register interest is midday on Saturday, June 26, after which any remaining spaces will go on public sale."

All home matches will be available to watch via the club’s online streaming service, SonsTV Live.
